Frame Channel Beta Testing — Intro and Setup

I’ve been using the Beta version of Frame Channel along with my screensaver and Google Photo Gadget. This software is meant to operate with your wireless digital picture frame. Currently the Frame Channel software works with the Big Eframe’s WiFi models DPF3220 and DPF3219, and PhotoVu’s WiFi models PV1750 and PV1965. Here’s FrameChannel’s description from their website:
“FrameChannel is a free web-based tool that lets you select and manage image content for your wireless picture frame or desktop. With over 200 channels of dynamic content, FrameChannel allows you to easily combine your own photos with news and entertainment channels, feeds from popular photo sharing sites, as well as photos sent by your friends and family who you can invite to contribute directly to your frame. You set it up once, tell it your preferences, and it updates every fifteen minutes!”
Setting up the RSS feed for my Google Gadgets was very easy. It took a little more work to get it set up to run as a screen saver. Frame Channel’s site has pretty good instructions to get you going given they are only in Beta testing. There are a number of channels that you can subscribe to, and you can add your own pictures or your friends pictures. This isn’t that big of a deal if you are using Frame Channel like I am now, but it will be a very nice feature to easily add pictures to your wireless digital frame. (I’ve fielded plenty of questions on loading pictures onto frames and not everyone finds it easy.) I could also see Frame Channel used to power the content for wireless frames remotely. Either in photo sharing with your friends and family, or in a commercial application for promotion or advertising.
