Subscription and Email Address needed with Wireless Digital Picture Frame?
Q. Do you have to purchase a photo package to send the digital frame pictures or does it come with its own e-mail address so you can send it pictures free of charge?
A. You do not need to purchase a photo package for use with any wireless frame I know of. You do need to have a wireless network set up in the area where you will be using the frame. Also the pictures are transfered to the frame accross the wireless network, so you don’t need a dedicated email address.
The Pacific Digital 8X10 is one of the only wireless photo frames available today. They are retooling this frame for the new year, so it will be able to accept an RSS feed and email. There are more wireless frames that will be available after the holidays. Ceiva logic is offering a two frames that allow a wireless adapter for an extra $30. You can now buy the ceiva frame without having to pay the subscription. A company called eStarling has produced a frame that will compete with Digital Spectrums (aka Pacific Digital) wireless frame. This frame allows for pictures to be sent via RSS feed from an online photo sharing service like Flickr.com or picasa directly to your frame. The frame also will accept pictures sent via email and email from your camera phone. They recommend a dedicated email address for the digital frame.
